FAQ

I have an Olds Super from the '50's and I've been cleaning the outer slide with Wrights polish for a while but the cloth still comes out black. Should I continue with the Wrights until it's clean or will your cleaner be all I need?

I would jump into the pretreatment. My experience with brass is that I could pull black out all day and then some. Brass is very porous. One thing is that you do not have to use a lot of either chemicals. Just use a spoonful or less when working with my product. (A little goes a long way) you should be able to do a least 10 slides or more twice a year with my product.

Back to the pretreatment.

Apply a small amount to the end of your cleaning rod, start pulling out the black. Do this 3-5 times, the black should stop coming out (I have had to do this on some slides up too 20 times, then I stop) . Clean away the pretreatment several times upon doing all the black removal. After doing several cleaning applications with a clean cloth you should be pulling out a little black residue. Check the slide and see how smooth it is operating at this point with out lubrication or SuperSlide, it should be very smooth. You might hear and feel little scratches, these are defects in the
slide).

Now go to the SuperSlide. Remember a little goes a long way. You should use much less than a spoonful, apply a small amount on the end of your cleaning rod and apply up and down inside the slide. Immediately follow with a dry clean cloth buff up and down inside the slide thoroughly, you should feel the results immediately. Try out you slide again before applying any other products. The slide should fly, at this point apply SuperSlide once or twice more and you are done. The more you buff the smoother the slide.

Also, when you are applying the SuperSlide you will still continue to pull out black residue this is O.K. At this point you should still not apply any other chemicals. The slide should be smooth sailing, a lot of players who use SuperSlide only use water after the application or just natural lubrication ( condensation that build up as you play). SuperSlide is designed to repel water and other substances ( This is the Teflon working like you see on pots and pans, just a different type of Teflon). Now if you slide is sailing smooth I suggest following the Slide Dr.'s recommendations or just using water. You can experiment with other chemicals and if they slow your slide down repeat the cleaning process. The cleaning process at this point should take less than 1/2 an hour, it is when you first use SuperSlide for the first time that the cleaning takes so long. Also, if you need to just remove the SuperSlide use the pretreatment this is designed to clean and strip away anything.
